Texas exams taken on or after Tuesday, September 1, 2026 are written to NEC 2026. Exams taken before that date are still NEC 2023.

Testing between August 28 and August 31? You're covered either way: your exam is still NEC 2023 while our questions have moved to NEC 2026. The differences are small and specific: Article 220 is renumbered to Article 120, dwelling general lighting drops from 3 to 2 VA/ft², the optional dwelling method's first tier goes from 10 kVA to 8 kVA, and the GFCI exception for outdoor HVAC equipment is gone. Everything else you've been drilling — motor calculations, conduit fill, grounding conductor sizing, working space — is unchanged between the two editions.
